French opener Bang Bang Cock Cock were delayed by technical difficulties, when they were finally off and running they were perhaps suprisingly more danc influenced that what might have been anticipated given the main act. The lead singer sounded thin and insubstantial on his own but the team effort with female accompaniment delivered much stronger results. The brief set was less than awe-inspiring and mostly held together by the energy of the driving percussion.
The main act provided all the dreamy, creepy, nostalgic pop you would expect. With a black and white video installation in the background it all felt a bit like the soundtrack to an old (and a bit hipster) photo album. The lo-fi buzz didn’t take any edge off the live performance and single You Know What I Mean was, without doubt, the highlight.
